Suffering from Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, how about Adrenal Fatigue?
Dr. Solomon’s Fibromyalgia/CFS 5 step approach: Step 2
Nutrition
People suffering from Fibromyalgia and CFS often experience a “foggy brain” or decreased cognitive function and ask me what they can do nutritionally to help them.
This is what I tell them…
Your brain is your central control unit and consumes 10 times as much energy for its size than the rest of your body. It stands to reason then that what you feed it will greatly influence how it operates and in turn how YOU function.
Eggs
A key ingredient for memory is Acetylcholine and your body requires 500mg each day. One egg will supply roughly 680mg of choline essential in the making of Acetylcholine. Studies are now showing that eggs do not increase cholesterol or increase your risk of heart disease even when eating the yolk (which is the part that contains the choline).
Fatty Fish
I’m a big supporter of Omega 3 oil supplements because most of our brain is made of this Omega 3 oil. Eating fish like salmon, tuna, herring, sardines and mackerel are great sources of Omega-3 oils and help feed the brain the building blocks it needs for repair and generation of new nerve pathways.
Almonds and Fresh Vegetables
Magnesium and B vitamins are the key nutrients needed to produce energy and can be found in whole unprocessed foods. Almonds are a great source of magnesium and fresh veg are a great source for B vitamins.
Coffee and Tea
Up to 2 cups of coffee or tea a day can have benefits to mental clarity. If you’re having difficulty sleeping then make sure you’re not drinking tea or coffee after 4pm.
Chocolate
Chocolate is 3 to 30 times more likely to be associated with not having a heart attack than taking Statin medications. Chocolate is a health food and consuming up to an ounce of raw dark chocolate a day will help mental clarity.
A few Supplements I’d highly recommend: Omega 3 oils, D-Ribose, Multivitamin, B vitamins, Curcumin
